This hunt is for two (2) hunters but only one (1) elk permit. In addition to the elk hunt, the island is famous for hunting Sitka Blacktail deer. This permit is available to Alaska residents and non-residents.

Hunters will be staying at the beautiful Raspberry Lodge on the island, raspberryislandlodge@gmail.com, from Sept 16 to 22, 2025. Once you arrive in Kodiak, you will be transported by boat to the lodge then returned following your hunt by a certified coast guard captain.

This is NOT a guided hunt; however, the lodge has two 30-foot Armstrong landing craft to transport you to your hunting area each day or to take you fishing once you have harvested an elk and deer. Season is open September 17 through October 22, 2025.

This Governor’s hunt opens 14 days before the regular season, the winner will be the only person hunting  elk on the island during this time. The hunt is during the rut.

Permit winner will receive a complimentary hunting license. A non-resident winner will also receive an elk
metal locking and deer permit. Some of this hunting area is on private land where a trespass permit is required. The winner will receive a free trespass and elk permit to hunt the entire 32 square mile island.

Fishing for halibut, rock fish, lingcod and silver salmon are excellent during this time. Winner will also receive
$2,500 in cash for travel, tips and extras.
